In this background, the MoHUA prepared a tool to measure the\n&#8216;Ease of Living&#8217; in Indian cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ease of Living Index 2020 <\/strong>aims to make cities capable of systematically assessing themselves against global and national benchmarks and adopt an outcome-based approach for urban planning and management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Criteria\"><\/span><strong>Criteria<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>EoLIis\nstructured according to 4 conceptual pillars, namely: Institutional, Social,\nEconomic, and Physical, which constitute the following 15 categories providing\na holistic picture of the living standards in a city:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Governance <\/strong>reflects the city\u2019s performance in efficient service delivery, resource utilization, and encouraging active citizen participation.<\/li><li><strong>Identity &amp; Culture <\/strong>examines the city&#8217;s performance in maintaining a business environment for tourism and restoring historical and ecological sites.<\/li><li><strong>Education <\/strong>reflects easy accessibility to and quality of educational institutions.<\/li><li><strong>Health <\/strong>includes the efficiency of healthcare infrastructure and services like the capacity of hospital beds, the number of healthcare professionals, and emergency response time. <\/li><li><strong>Safety and Security<\/strong> reflect the number of recorded crimes along with the availability of surveillance systems.<\/li><li><strong>Economy &amp; Employment<\/strong> capture growth in the city\u2019s trade, services, and <strong>real estate<\/strong> sector.<\/li><li><strong>Housing &amp; Inclusiveness<\/strong> include affordable housing with services like toilets, water supply, and solid waste management. <\/li><li><strong>Public Open Spaces<\/strong> assess the city\u2019s per capita availability of green space and recreation.<\/li><li><strong>Mixed Land Use &amp; Compactness<\/strong> reflect high residential density, integrated land use, and non-motorized transportation for reduced pollution.<\/li><li><strong>Power Supply<\/strong> captures the availability of good quality low voltage fluctuations and energy percentage derived from non-conventional sources.<\/li><li><strong>Transportation &amp;
