They are then prehomogenized to ensure uniform blending of the materials.<\/li><li><strong>Raw Meal Grinding:<\/strong> The prehomogenized raw materials are ground into a fine powder known as &#8220;raw meal.&#8221; This process usually takes place in a ball mill, where the materials are mixed and pulverized.<\/li><li><strong>Clinker Production:<\/strong> The raw meal is heated in a rotary kiln at extremely high temperatures (around 1450\u00b0C or 2642\u00b0F) to form a new material called &#8220;clinker.&#8221; The clinker is a fused mass of partially molten material, which consists of small balls or nodules.<\/li><li><strong>Cooling of Clinker:<\/strong> After the clinker formation in the rotary kiln, it is cooled rapidly to avoid agglomeration and store the clinker in silos for further processing.<\/li><li><strong>Addition of Gypsum:<\/strong> To control the setting time and other properties of cement, a small amount of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate) is added to the clinker during the final grinding stage.<\/li><li><strong>Final Grinding and Storage:<\/strong> The clinker, along with gypsum and other additives, is finely ground to produce the final cement powder. This grinding process typically occurs in a ball mill or vertical roller mill.
