It covers parts of the Himalayas, the Western Ghats, and the Deccan Plateau.<\/li><li><strong>Zone IV:<\/strong>\u00a0This zone has a high seismic risk and requires special design and construction techniques. It covers parts of the Himalayas, the Western Ghats, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.<\/li><li><strong>Zone V:<\/strong>\u00a0This zone has a very high seismic risk and requires the most stringent design and construction techniques. It covers parts of the Himalayas and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest seismic zoning map of India was published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in 2002. The map is based on the latest seismological data and takes into account the potential for earthquakes in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to note that even if a particular area is in a low seismic zone, it is still possible for an earthquake to occur. It is always advisable to take precautions against earthquakes, such as installing earthquake-resistant fixtures and appliances in your home.
