It was inaugurated on November 19, 2022, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The airport is located at Hollongi, 14 km from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a civil enclave airport with a 2,300 m runway. The airport is capable of handling ATR 72 and A320 type of aircraft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The airport is expected to boost tourism and economic activity in Arunachal Pradesh. It will also provide connectivity to the state with other parts of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport is named after Donyi Polo, the sun and moon deities of the Adi tribe, the largest tribe in Arunachal Pradesh. The airport&#8217;s logo features a stylized image of Donyi Polo with the words &#8220;Itanagar Airport&#8221; in Hindi and English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
