Model Town is a posh residential area in North Delhi, India. It was one of the first privately created communities in Delhi<\/a>, established by the DLF Group, then known as Delhi Land and Finance, in the early 1950s. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Model Town is organized into blocks and sub-colonies and spans a broad region. Along with Alipur and Narela, it is one of the three administrative divisions of the North Delhi district. The Model Townsite had previously been one of the selected sites for the development of New Delhi by the Delhi Town Planning Committee in 1912. The land to the north of Shahjahanabad was a favored choice for the new capital city since it provided continuity with the old city and incorporated the existing Civil Lines region into the new metropolis. The Delhi Durbars, which hosted the coronation rituals of three British rulers, was also located in the vicinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Model Town, built during the\npre-master plan phase of the 1962 master plan, was one of the most well-planned\nneighborhoods at a time when planning standards were lacking. This rich\nresidential area was Delhi’s first upscale neighborhood after independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
