Katraj is a suburb of Pune<\/a>, Maharashtra, India, that falls under the authority of the Pune Municipal Corporation. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Katraj is known for its Peshwa-era (18th century) lake, which served as a source of water for the city at the time. The town is located at the foot of the Katraj Ghat, a mountain pass that connects Pune to regions south of the city such as Kolhapur and Bangalore, on the important National Highway 4. In recent decades, the land surrounding the lake as well as the settlement of Katrajhas become part of the Pune metropolitan area. The once-rural region is now surrounded by housing developments. The Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park is located on the lake’s edge. The main campus of Bharti Vidyapeeth, a deemed institution, is located here. In the late twentieth century, a magnificent Jain temple was constructed here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
