The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, or PMAY, is a Union Government effort under which low-cost housing is to be provided to all qualified recipients inside the United States through the use of subsidies and monetary support, as part of the ‘Housing for All’ Mission. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It aims to address the housing needs of the city poor, including slum dwellers, through applications for slum rehabilitation with the participation of private builders and the use of land as a resource, promotion of low-cost housing for weaker sections through credit-linked subsidy, low-cost housing in partnership with the public and private sectors, and subsidy for a beneficiary-led man or woman residence production or enhancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In rural areas, PMAY Gramin (PMAY-G) is being implemented with the help of the Ministry of Rural Development. It is a revamped version of the former Indira Awas Yojana (IAY), which began as a stand-alone program in the mid-1990s. The initiative aims to provide a pucca residence with basic amenities to all houseless house owners residing in kutcha and decaying dwellings by the year 2022 when India celebrates its 75th anniversary of independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a parliament response in the Lok Sabha dated July 2021, the development of a total of 45.7 lakh dwellings was completed under PMAY-U over the five years from 2016-17 to 2020-21, with over 1.12 crore homes sanctioned for construction. Approximately 40% of the sanctioned dwellings were completed below the PMAY-U standard.On the other hand, during the same period, a total of 1.38 crore homes were built under PMAY-G, with over 1.89 crore dwellings being sanctioned. By the end of 2020-21, more than 69 percent of the sanctioned dwellings had been completed under PMAY-G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under PMAY HFA urban, a collection of guidance files with current mission plans\/unit plans may be advanced, which may be used by builders and may assist in fast-monitoring the approved method for projects, thereby saving effort, time, and money and avoiding implementation concerns. Under the PMAY HFA (urban), the authorities have introduced risk-primarily based types of homes to quick-song constructing plan approval, inspection, and supply of occupancy-cum-crowning glory certificates in a few towns and will have a take a look at enforcing the method throughout the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
