Committed to Road Safety: NHAI’s Bangalore-Mysore Highway Audit Panel!

To guarantee safe travel, the Bangalore-Mysore Highway has undergone a safety examination by a team of road safety specialists assembled by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The committee members are now visiting the location and want to finish their investigation by July’23 end. After the visit is over, the panel will turn in its report within 10 days.

Recall that on June 24, Satish Jarkiholi, the minister of public works for Karnataka, ordered a safety evaluation of the Bangalore-Mysore Motorway. The assessment was requested in response to claims that the freshly opened motorway saw more than 500 incidents in its first five months of operation. The minister told The Times of India, “There may be a few technical issues with the motorway’s construction, which will be brought to the NHAI’s attention, and we will work together to make things right.”\
A section of the National motorway 275 (NH-275) is covered with a 118-km access-controlled motorway that was completed in March 2023.
“The NHAI used cutting-edge technologies to construct the highway, helping to increase trade and serving as a catalyst for the socioeconomic growth of the area. Just 75 minutes now separates the two cities in the state of Karnataka thanks to the motorway. The national highway network is a testament to India’s fast evolving road infrastructure and the NHAI’s dedication to building one, the road and transport ministry stated in a statement on July 18.
The corridor also entails four rail overbridges, nine major bridges, 40 minor bridges, 89 underpasses and overpasses and six bypasses are constructed to the towns of Bidadi, Ramnagara, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya and Srirangapatna to resolve the problem of traffic congestion and to ease the traffic movement of public.
“Improving safety on national highways is one of the topmost priorities of the NHAI, and it is committed to ensure safe, smooth, and seamless travel experience for all commuters,” it added.
The highway also provides inter-state connectivity to Karnataka with Tamil Nadu and Kerala, decongesting cities of Coorg, Srirangapatna, Wayanad and Ooty.
