The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) was established in 1975 to provide purposeful development to the whole location of Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs.

The frame was tasked with planning and coordinating development activities over the whole site. Maharashtra’s city development minister is in charge of the MMRDA. The Authority is also responsible for the development of new city centers, the implementation, and execution of strategic initiatives, as well as attempts to promote the MMR as an economically advanced place by providing people with high-quality infrastructure and a modern way of life.

MMRDA’s Functions and Responsibilities
  • Local improvement plans are being prepared.
  • Providing financial support for large-scale local activities.
  • Assisting the neighborhood government with its infrastructural projects.
  • Within the MMR, coordinating and executing initiatives and/or strategies.
  • Restricting any pastime that might harm the MMR’s proper development.

In sectors such as transportation, housing, water supply, and the environment, we’re keeping an eye on significant efforts and recommending changes.MMRDA Mumbai Metro is spearheading several major undertakings.

Around 9 metro lines are now under development, easing traffic congestion between the city’s eastern and western suburbs and shortening journey times between some of the city’s most important centers. The following are the MMRDA Mumbai Metro Lines:

Mumbai Monorail is a public transportation system in Mumbai, India

The Mumbai Monorail is India’s first monorail line, running between Jacob Circle in south Mumbai and Chembur in the city’s west. It was built as a feeder line to the current Mumbai suburban railway line for Rs 3,000 crores. In February of 2014, the line was formally launched. The idea to extend the Mumbai monorail to Worli is currently receiving little attention.

Mumbai The Trans-Harbour Link is a bridge that connects the two sides of the city

The Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link Road, also known as the Nhava-Shewa Link Road, is yet to see the light of day. Its goal is to decongest the island town by improving the connection between south Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The mission will be inaugurated in 2022, while construction is still underway. This may be India’s longest road.

From Virar to Alibaug, there is a multi-modal hall

This 126-kilometer corridor will connect the NH-8, the Bhiwandi bypass, the NH-3, the NH-4, and NH-4B, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the NH-17, and others. It will also provide much-needed connectivity to the MMR’s seven expansion corridors of Virar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Dombivali, Panvel, Taloja, and Uran.

Elevated Road of Sahar

This roadway, first opened in 2014, connects the Western Express Highway to the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Because of the lack of direct access to the international airport and the steady increase in site visitors heading in that direction, this roadway became intentional.
