Six infrastructure projects are suggested by PM Gati Shakti Network Planning Group.

At its 45th session on March 15, 2023, the Network Planning Group (NPG) of the PM Gati Shakti Mission suggested six infrastructure projects.

Several agencies analysed and approved these projects, which would enable multimodal connection, smooth flow of products and passengers, and increased logistics overall performance across the nation, during a conference led by the DPIIT logistics division special secretary. Among these initiatives are

Ladakh’s renewable energy initiatives will benefit from an inter-state transmission infrastructure.

This project is a significant step towards the government’s goal of attaining 500 GW of non-fossil operational range by 2030. Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the establishment of a 7,500-MW solar park and transmission project in Ladakh during his 2020 Independence Day speech. Transmission utilisation of 76% is projected using a first-of-its-kind technology in the globe. This initiative will generate local job opportunities and contribute to Ladakh’s general economic growth. It also helps to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by around 26 million tonnes per year.

Anwarganj-Mandhana elevated railway track in Kanpur

This construction, a city-specific initiative, would boost rail line capacity utilisation and enhance municipal logistics in the area. The project is located in the centre of Kanpur, where 16 level crossings (LC) are positioned along a 16-kilometer section of the GT Road. Universities, medical colleges, cardiology centres, cancer centres, commodities sheds, consumption centres, warehouses, agricultural components, and other main characteristics may be found on both sides of the railway track. It eventually leads to traffic congestion and an increase in railway and automobile wait times.

Rail Bridge across the Ganga

The project is located around 40 kilometres from Bhagalpur along a Ganga stream. This is a key infrastructure project since it will offer continuous freight flow mobility once completed. This project will interconnect commercial hubs of food grains, transfer cement to north Bihar and the north-east area, increase stone chips, boulders, and other quarry products to 5 rakes per day.

Ajmer-Chittaurgarh railway line

The 178.28-kilometer project would primarily service the industrial and tribal belts of Rajasthan’s Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Chittaurgarh. Pushkar, Ajmer, Chittaurgarh, and Udaipur are among the many religious, tourist, and historic sites in the project area. This segment of the project additionally serves significant food grain unloading terminals. By doubling the railway, this project will save roughly 40-45 minutes of journey time for customers. It would improve regional logistics efficiency by providing multimodal connections.

4 lane road construction from Bijni to Mandi

The proposal calls for the building of Pathankot-Mandi twin tube tunnels. It would connect the Pathankot Cantonment Railway Station with the Joginder Nagar Railway Station. It would also link key towns like as Nurpur, Shahpur, Dharamshala, Kangra, Palampur, Baijnath, and Mandi. By enhancing economic activity in the region, this project will enhance freight traffic on the new route. It will boost rail connectivity (including dedicated freight corridors), airport connectivity, MMLP linkage, and ropeway connectivity.

Building of four lanes on the Belgaum-Hungsund-Raichur highway

The Panaji-Hyderabad Economic Corridor includes this project. This economic corridor would improve communication between Karnataka, Goa, and Telangana. It would boost multi-modal connectivity by connecting six major railway stations (Goa, Belgavi, Bagalkot, Raichur, Mahabubnagar, and Hyderabad), three airports (Goa, Belgavi, and Hyderabad), and around 20 tourist attractions.
