BMC gives a green light to conduct vaccination drive at housing societies

Talking about the latest updates from BMC, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has allowed the private hospital to set up a vaccination centre on the premises of housing societies.

Many local government officers are appointed to coordinate with a private hospital to provide doorstep vaccination drives to Mumbai people. Their main motive is to vaccinate the whole population of Mumbai as early as possible. Previously, the civic body has sent an approval letter for this to the centre and is now taking quick action for implementation after getting approval from the centre to start vaccination drive at housing societies.

The highest number of people getting vaccinated in Mumbai is 41000 every day, covering all government and only eight private hospitals. We can say that this is a big step by BMC to scale up the vaccination drive and stop Covid-19 increasing cases as Mumbai is facing the highest number of Covid-19 instances across the country.

Currently, BMC is performing 40000 to 45000 tests per day, and looking at the massive increase in Coronavirus cases, our BMC commissioner MR. Iqbal Singh Chahal has instructed us to focus on conducting one Lakh Covid-19 test every day. He also said that “we are allowing different private banks, Industrial and corporate sectors to tie up with private hospitals near to them to grab the doorstep vaccination opportunity.” “We have to tie up with 75 private hospitals for vaccination, and we are adding more to the list. All the hospitals will have to supervise all the holding area and vaccination following all the protocols,” he added.

Till April 30, citizens between the ages of 45 and 60 and above age senior citizen were only allowed to get vaccine injected. But, after the announcement for citizens above 18 age are compulsory to get the vaccination from May 1 by orders from the central government of India, this step of centre is appraisable.

One of the Housing society Chairman said that “ We are in continuous touch with the BMC authorities and local MP’s to conduct vaccination in our society as we have 700 flats and over 1500 residents. We will help BMC in every requirement to set up a vaccination centre and provide the workforce to work. This big step of our will support people, and they don’t need to go out of homes to get the vaccination done.”
