Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is expecting the inception of the construction of the first line of the Aqua-Line extension to Greater Noida this year itself. The state government has sanctioned the detailed report on the five stations on the route, waiting for the final agreement by the central govt.
The NMRC administration is anticipating the final response by the central govt by the end of November this year. The construction work is expected to begin from December.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) finally has got three bidders, who have shown interest in the technical bids after the bid was floated for the fourth time. The bidders interested in technical bids for NMRC are M/s GR infra projects Limited, M/s SAM (India) Builtwell Private Limited, and M/s Ashoka Buildcon Limited. NMRC will go through the process to pick one company that will build Phase-I of the Aqua Line Extension.
“The civil tenders have been floated and the technical evaluation is nearby complete. Only the financial bidding is left. We can begin construction as soon as the approval comes” stated Manoj Vajpayee, general manager NMRC.
Several revisions were made in the detailed project report of the Aqua Line Extension of greater Noida after the center questioned the previous reports. The 14.95 km Aqua Line Corridor from Noida Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida will have nine stations in total. Meanwhile, the NMRC spokesperson stated “We have revised it and sent it to the center again. The state government has already approved it.” In addition to which, he also added that the central government had been requested to accelerate the approval procedure for the construction of Phase-I to begin at the earliest. The total cost of Aqua Line construction is Rs 1,100 crore. Whereas Phase-I of the crucial project will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 492 Crore.
The Aqua Line Metro project aims at easing the commuting for residents of high-rises in Greater Noida and many others who live in nearby villages and other residential settlements in the proximity of NCR.
This Aqua Line route will extend the metro connectivity into the developing areas whose demography has spiked in the past few years. Metro services are essentially required in this region as the residents of this region are devoid of metro facility due to which they depend on private cars for commuting.
The executive director of the NMRC confirmed that a tender for five metro stations has been issued. Subsequently, the five metro stations are Sector 122, 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Ecotech 12, and Greater Noida Sector 2. The data stated in the DPR highlights a footfall of a max of 50,000, which has led to certain speculations by the higher authority. The present Aqua-Line commutes over 12,000 passengers on a day-to-day basis.
