MHADA redevelopment projects no longer require Maha government approval.

In order to improve decision-making speed and decentralise the system, the Maharashtra administration has annulled all government decisions made by the previous Maharashtra government regarding MHADA building rehabilitation.

Originally, all Government Resolutions (GRs) for redevelopment required a no objection certificate (NOC) from the state government. This involved obtaining a NOC for an increase in FSI from 2.5 to 3 for the redevelopment of decommissioned structures. The former administration published the circulars between 2021 and 2022.

In accordance with the GR enacted on September 15,2022, no previous authorization from the Maharashtra state government is required for rebuilding. This included the erection of structures that had been destroyed by fire, buildings that had been lawfully dismantled, and the creation of litter. Formerly, a tripartite agreement between the developer, society, and MHADA was required, however, this is no longer the case.

This is a start toward resolving citizen complaints about delayed redevelopment projects.
