Bur Dubai is a historical area on the western bank of the Dubai Creek. Bur Dubai literally translates to ‘mainland Dubai.’

It alludes to the ancient division of Bur Dubai and Deira, that are located on opposite sides of the Dubai Creek. Previously, an Abra (a traditional wooden boat) was used to carry passengers from one side to the other. The Floating Bridge, Al Maktoum Bridge, and Al Shindagha Tunnel now connect the two communities.

Historical sites in the community include the Dubai Museum, The Ruler’s Court, Al Fahidi Historical District/Neighbourhood, and Al Shindagha Historical District. The Grand Mosque, which has the city’s highest tower, and the blue tiled Iranian Mosque are both located in the neighbourhood.

Bur Dubai has several historic areas on the western side of the Dubai Creek, across from Deira. The community is flanked to the north by Port Rashid, to the west by Al Jafiliya, and to the south by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The impact of Indian expats is visible throughout Bur Dubai’s marketplaces, restaurants, and stores. Bur Dubai is home to one of Dubai’s oldest Hindu temples. The Grand Mosque, which has the city’s highest minarets, is also nearby. This portrays Bur Dubai’s multi-cultural atmosphere.

Bur Dubai is a melting pot of cultural and economic influences, with its mix of trendy, modern mid-rises, vast villas, and historic flats.   • On the Green Line, some of the most popular Dubai Metro Stations in the neighbourhood are Al Fahidi Metro Station, Al Ghubaiba Metro Station, Oud Mehta Metro Station, and Al Jaddaf Metro Station. The Red Line includes ADCB Metro Station and Burjuman Metro Station. These are found in Bur Dubai’s several sub-communities. There are also several bus stations located across the neighbourhood.
  • For individuals with private transportation, Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Ain Hatta Road, and Al Khail Road provide easy access to Bur Dubai.
  • Because the region has a mix of ancient and modern structures, it is difficult to predict how parking will be organised. Residents of newer flats in Bur Dubai have dedicated parking spaces, but older buildings sometimes do not.
  • Those who live in Bur Dubai must either seek for paid street parking spots or purchase a monthly/yearly parking space in the area’s parking lots. Because of this, visitors frequently have difficulty finding parking. Parking on the street is restricted and subject to availability.

There is no question that living in Bur Dubai is a unique and memorable experience. There are, however, a few factors to consider if you decide to relocate to Bur Dubai.

Residents frequently express their dissatisfaction with the traffic and parking issue. Because the residences in Bur Dubai are older, they may not be as up to date in terms of facilities as some of the other famous locations in Dubai.
